In order to reclaim a seized or impounded vehicle, the owner or registered keeper must present the required documents at the relevant police pound.
The Met has a duty of care to establish the identity and ownership of any person reclaiming a vehicle or property from the vehicle, and to prevent any offences that may be highlighted.
Electronic copies of the documents produced to release the vehicle or property, and any reason for refusing to restore the vehicle, will be retained on the police pound’s computer administration system called Easy Link Vehicle Information System (ELVIS).
We need to keep copies of the documents produced as there may be a requirement to refer to the documents in the event of any subsequent complaints, claims for a refund, or in the event the Met is challenged about the decision to restore the vehicle or property.
Further information about how the Met gathers, uses, discloses and manages your personal data can be found on the privacy notice.
